Santana Lucca Tickets 2027

Carlos Santana returns to Tuscany on Sunday, July 18, 2027, bringing the Planet of Free Will Global Tour 2027 to the historic Mura di Lucca – Viale Carducci. The concert begins at 9:00 PM and forms part of the 30th anniversary edition of Lucca Summer Festival.

For fans looking to buy Santana tickets in Lucca, this performance offers another opportunity to experience the guitarist's distinctive combination of Latin rhythms, blues, rock and jazz. It also marks a change of setting from his previous appearances in the city, with the concert taking place against Lucca's Renaissance-era walls rather than the familiar Piazza Napoleone stage.

Santana's Planet of Free Will Global Tour 2027

The Planet of Free Will Global Tour continues a remarkable period of live activity for Carlos Santana, whose guitar playing remains instantly recognisable more than five decades after his breakthrough at Woodstock.

His concerts move naturally between extended instrumental passages, Afro-Latin percussion and songs that have crossed generations. From the early psychedelic rock of Santana and Abraxas to the worldwide success of Supernatural, his music has consistently brought different styles together without losing its identity.

Recent performances have featured Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, Evil Ways, Soul Sacrifice, Maria Maria, Corazón Espinado and Smooth, alongside instrumental favourites such as Samba Pa Ti and Europa.

These songs offer a useful indication of his recent live repertoire, although the exact setlist for Lucca in 2027 has not been announced.

Santana's more recent recording work also reflects his interest in musical collaboration. Released in March 2025, Sentient brought together 11 tracks, including previously unreleased recordings and collaborations involving Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Miles Davis and drummer Cindy Blackman Santana.

The album highlights the jazz, soul and experimental influences that continue to shape his approach to the guitar.

A Return to Lucca After the 2025 Concert

Santana already has a notable history with Lucca Summer Festival.

His first appearance took place on July 14, 2006. He returned nineteen years later, on July 3, 2025, performing in Piazza Napoleone during his Oneness Tour.

That 2025 concert featured a broad selection of his best-known material, including Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, Maria Maria, Europa and Smooth. Another particularly interesting moment was a performance of Get On with Italian musician Paolo Rustichelli, whose collaborations with Santana also appear on Sentient.

The July 2027 date will therefore be his third appearance at Lucca Summer Festival, arriving just two years after his previous visit.

There is an important difference this time: rather than returning to Piazza Napoleone, Santana will perform at the larger outdoor concert area beside the city's historic walls.

Santana at Mura di Lucca – Viale Carducci

The Mura di Lucca concert area is one of the most distinctive settings used by Lucca Summer Festival.

Located alongside the historic walls near Viale Giosuè Carducci, the outdoor venue provides space for major international concerts while keeping the atmosphere closely connected to the city's architectural heritage.

Lucca's Renaissance fortifications form the backdrop to the performances, giving the location a character quite different from a conventional indoor arena.

The 2027 concert also coincides with the festival's 30th anniversary celebrations. Over the years, the event has welcomed artists including Eric Clapton, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and The Rolling Stones, establishing Lucca as an important destination for international live music in Italy.

For visitors travelling from Florence, Pisa or elsewhere in Tuscany, the combination of a major concert and Lucca's historic centre makes this summer date particularly appealing.
